The Bridge recently successfully completed a mid-term surveillance NDIS audit with all quality indicators meeting NDIS requirements. Here’s what that means for participants, families and carers as the NDIS reforms continue to roll out.
Conducted over three days by an NDIS approved independent auditor, the audit involved visits to two of our services, interviews with staff and conversations with participants and families selected independently by the auditor. The outcome results reflect the dedication of our staff, leaders, participants and families who work together every day to create positive outcomes and quality supports.
What the Audit Looked At
The audit examined many aspects of how The Bridge operates, including governance, quality and safety systems, risk management, participant feedback, workforce practices and continuous improvement.
The auditors report stated, “The Bridge demonstrated a structured governance framework supported by strong quality systems, active Board oversight and well-integrated processes across areas such as quality assurance, incident management, complaints handling and continuous improvement.”
Importantly, the audit also focused on the experiences of participants and families and whether the supports we provide are making a positive difference in their lives.
What Participants and Families Told the Auditor
One of the strongest themes identified during the audit was the positive feedback provided by participants and families.
The auditor noted that feedback consistently highlighted trust, continuity of support and strong relationships with workers.
Comments shared during the audit included:
“I get regular feedback to let me know how things are going. They do everything within their power to help.”
“They listen, they understand, and they work around my child’s needs.”
“It’s not just a job to them, and they do it so well.”
“If I get upset and crying, they support me having time out, and I get happier again.”
For us, feedback like this is one of the most meaningful measures of success. It reflects the relationships our teams build with participants and the commitment they bring to their work every day.
Ready for the NDIS Reforms
As the NDIS reforms continue to roll out across Australia, participants and families need confidence and trust that their provider can continue to deliver safe, quality supports while responding to change.
The Bridge has been supporting people with disability for more than 55 years and has been a registered NDIS provider since the Scheme commenced. Our recent audit outcome reinforces our commitment to quality and provides confidence that we’re well positioned to support participants through the changes ahead.
Regular auditing and maintaining NDIS registration are essential to ensuring the quality and safety of our services. Being a fully registered NDIS provider gives participants and families confidence that supports are delivered to national standards with accountability, oversight and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The audit also highlighted a positive organisational culture, with staff described as proactive and comfortable receiving feedback. That mindset helps us remain responsive, adapt to change and continue improving our services as participant needs and funding arrangements evolve.
Looking Ahead with Confidence During the NDIS Reforms
The NDIS reforms will bring change across the disability sector, with quality, trust and strong relationships remaining just as important as ever.
Our recent audit outcome provides independent confirmation that The Bridge has the systems, people and culture needed to continue delivering high-quality supports into the future.
As the reforms continue to roll out, we’ll remain focused on listening to participants and families, adapting to change and providing practical information through our Reform Ready communications.
