Getting fit together!
Last week, we trialled a collaborative new exercise program between four of our Day Services sites: Athol Road (Springvale), Stawell Street (Cranbourne) and Clyde Road (Berwick) in the new facility at Slattery Place (Pakenham) for fun and fitness.
There was a... 45-minute session with a instructor that highly qualified and experienced in working with arrange of disabilities and medical conditions. The focus was on health and well being as well as increasing mobility and strength.
The trial was a success and will be a permanent fixture in the new time tables for the sites. It was awesome to see the participants from the different sites making friends and enjoying themselves.

Opps! It seems like the photos from yesterday's RUOK? Day didn't upload....
That's ok! Here they are!
Many of our sites held morning and afternoon teas to get together for RUOK? Day yesterday. There were lots of great conversations that were had and it was a fun ...way to acknowledge a good cause.
A conversation could save a life...
The Bridge recognised R U OK? day with morning & afternoon teas at each of our sites today (some are pictured) where we gathered together and chatted over nibbles. Remote Support Workers were invited to our Head Office in Dandenong to join in their ...morning tea so everyone could be included.
Prior to the event, the Health, Wellbeing and Engagement Committee sent out conversation guides on how to ask someone, ‘are you okay?’ and how to listen and give support. The guides also had resources on where to go for help – for example, support services like Lifeline (13 11 14) and Beyond Blue (1300 224 636 ).
It was a lovely morning to acknowledge an important cause.

Sean joined The Bridge after school in 2017 and attended our Stawell Street day service 2 days a week where he enjoyed community activities and met new friends. His employment journey started soon after when he took part in work experience at The Bridge Works. ...There he developed employment skills through various duties including being on reception, answering the phones, and assembling the bowel screening kits for Sonic Healthcare.

This month our Youth Jobs Now (aged 16-24 yrs) and Your Jobs Now (aged 25 yrs+) participants travelled into the city to attend the Career Expo held at the Exhibition Centre.
It was certainly an eye-opening experience for participants as they soaked up the employment focused atmosphere. ...Some participants gave out resumes while others discovered new opportunities and chatted with vendors at the stalls.
Everyone enjoyed mingling and collecting lots of swag, whilst gaining new knowledge about the employment possibilities available to them. A great day had by all!

Congratulations to William for 35 years at The Bridge Works!
William celebrated 35 years of service at The Bridge this month with a presentation from his team. What an achievement!
William is currently working on Sonic Health, putting together bi-fold sleeves for the pamphlets in ...the cancer bowel screening kits. He is also in charge of making sure production lines are clean and organised, so throughout the day he will be emptying bins and sweeping the floors from anything that could cause anyone to slip and hurt themselves.
Thank you William - The Bridge is lucky to have you with us!
