Strong governance is an essential part of providing services in the disability sector.

The Board of Directors governs The Bridge Inc. and is accountable to Members for its performance.  The Board comprises six independent Directors, elected by members of the association, and the Chief Executive Officer.

In conjunction with senior management staff, the Board sets the strategic direction and delegates the responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the organisation to the Chief Executive Officer who, with the management team, is accountable to the Board.

Sue Banks
Chair
Sue is a qualified accountant and MBA working with commercial client-focussed businesses. She has a broad range of operational experience, particularly in running the internal aspects of a company. This includes a strong interest in people development and a belief that everyone should be given the opportunity through education, training, activities and on the job experiences to become the best person that they want to be.

John Jeffries
Deputy Chair
John has been the long-term CEO of one of Australia’s most successful International NGOs, specialising in all disability in the developing world. He brings a unique blend of leadership experience, combined with extensive governance experience from serving on boards of several Australian and International Non-Government organisations working in disability, medical research and community housing.

David Mallinson
Treasurer
David is Fellow of the CPA and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he is currently the Group CFO at Elenium Automation Pty Ltd , a leading technology Company that manufactures electronic equipment for the Aviation and Medical sectors. Prior to this David had 27 years in Senior roles in the manufacturing sector both in Finance and Operational Management. David also has held Non Executive Director Roles with Dairy Australia and Snapsil Corporation and has a strong understanding of the governance requirements in both listed and unlisted Companies.

Jim Hall
Director
Jim has over 35 years’ experience in the chemicals and plastics industry with 15 years at the general management level with BASF. He was appointed a director of BASF Australia in 1991. Jim is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also a Fellow and a Certified Practicing Marketer of the Australian Marketing Institute and a Member of the Melbourne University Business School Alumni.

Sally Bennett
Director
Sally is an experienced governance, risk, and compliance professional with a mix of Board experience. She is currently the Director of Risk Management for The Arts Centre Melbourne, but has prior experience with enterprise and clinical risk management in health, aged care and disability organisations. Sally, a transformational change leader, believes strongly in embedding a strong risk culture throughout organisations. Sally is qualified in Science, Engineering, Leadership and Change, and has an MBA.

Sue Hansford
Director
Sue has 30 years’ experience in the Medical Technology Industry, and for the last ten years has held the position of Managing Director for Australia/New Zealand of a listed US medical device company, Integra Lifesciences, focused on the neurosurgery market Versatile and adaptable within a team environment, having successfully managed and provided leadership to small and large organisations. Sue has also managed regional business initiatives across diverse product portfolios and prepared and delivered strategic revenue forecasts and market insights at a senior corporate level. Experienced in commercial leadership for sustainable and profitable growth, strategic marketing and business planning, M&A projects, change management and culture transformation, quality compliance and risk management Serves as a Non-Executive Board member for the NFP sector including Road Trauma Support Services Victoria. An active member of her employers’ Women’s Leadership Council, which promotes diversity, inclusion and career advancement opportunities for women in the workplace. Sue holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management from Latrobe University

Andrew Stewart
Director
Andrew has over 20 years’ of international experience in energy, infrastructure and mining services. Andrew combines both CEO experience; having led an America’s business unit of 18,000 staff, with global functional expertise in strategy, digital transformation, divestments, mergers and acquisitions, customer development and sales, marketing, communications, and strategic projects. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in mechanical engineering from The University of Melbourne and a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.

Mary-Jane Stolp
Chief Executive Officer
For the last 23 years Mary-Jane has worked in executive and senior management roles in the health, aged care, community and disability sectors. An experienced clinical governance, quality, strategy and risk management professional she has a Masters in Health Service Management and is a Fellow of the Australian College for Health Service Management. Ms Stolp is passionate about workforce redesign and innovation to enable delivery of person-centred care and is currently completing her MBA.

Nicole Stribbles
Connects General Manager
Nicole has extensive experience working within the disability sector spanning over 20 years. Nicole initially completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Intellectual Disability) and then a Graduate Diploma in Disability (Leadership). She also holds her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Nicole’s experience includes group based supports as well as individualised services and brokerage supports. Having worked in direct support before moving into a range of leadership and management roles, she is committed to the delivery of quality services and outcomes to enhance the lives of people with a disability.

Gordon Jamieson
Operations Manager Connects
Gordon has worked in the disability sector for almost 40 years in a variety of service types. As a qualified Primary and Special Education Teacher his experience includes teaching and Acting Principal within a Special Development School and managing an Open Employment Service for people with disabilities. More recently Gordon has been Chief Executive Officer with a disability organisation, that provided Day Services and Supported Employment in West Gippsland. After fifteen years as a CEO, Gordon is excited to be with The Bridge, in a more operational management role, where he can assist staff to provide quality supports to participants and their families.

ICT Manager
James has enjoyed many successful management and consulting roles in the ICT industry from both a customer and service provider perspective. The Bridge has been continuously developing the maturity of their ICT landscape and James is excited about helping to drive further improvements especially around cyber security.

Shelley Tubb
Customer Relationship Manager
Having both lived with and holding professional experience, Shelley has been in the Disability Sector for over fifteen years. Shelley graduated from RMIT in 2004 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Disability. Shelley worked in direct support while studying and then moved on the case management, planning and facilitation, and into the customer service space. Shelley enjoys working with people to recognise their individual strengths and aspirations which is what had driven her to gaining a Certificate IV in Career Development. Through her professional experience Shelley has developed a broad working knowledge of the NDIS, implementation and facilitation to support participants and their families plan and transition to a variety of post school options, supports and services to meet their individual needs.

Chrissy Gordon
Manager People, Culture and Quality
Chrissy is a passionate people focused leader, with experience in the development of people centric business models, strategic business plans and performance frameworks. An engaging communicator, her greatest reward is seeing others grow, develop and learn new skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. She is driven by working with others to enhance organisational capability, service delivery and community wellbeing. Chrissy has built her leadership career in people-focused positions following her accomplishments of a Degree in Community Development; Graduate Diploma in Social Science, a Certificate in Management, and experience in project management and facilitation. Bringing extensive experience via local government and private enterprise, Chrissy leads services that embrace and enhance our commitment to people while developing strategies that enrich culture and drive the delivery of meaningful purposeful services and outcomes for The Bridge.

Richard Dawe
Chief Financial Officer
Richard has worked in a variety of Financial Management roles for 30 years having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993. His career started in the UK and Europe where he worked in small through to international businesses. Moving to Australia in 2004, he established a consulting business that evolved to become focused on the Not For Profit sector. This led him to working in senior financial management roles in that sector, including at a disability iNGO, before commencing at The Bridge in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer. Richard is a strategically minded CFO with a passion for the “for purpose” sector and has been transforming the reliability and easy delivery of information at The Bridge to enable strong decision making.
